In continuation of Sir William

Gascoigne's Despatch No. 394, dated the 3rd. September,

1902, I have the honour to transmit to you copies of a

Statement in the nature of an analysis of Mr. 0. Chadwick's

reports of the 10th. and 18th. April, 1902, on the Sanita-

-tion and Water Supply of this Colony showing the steps

that have been taken up to date or are in contemplation to

give effect to that gentleman's recommendations.

With reference to paragraphs 68

to 70 of the earlier report, I enclose copies of a scheme

for new flushing tanks in Victoria which has been drawn up

by Mr. H. T. Jackman, Executive Engineer, and approved by

the Director of Public Works and myself. Provision has been

made in the Estimates for 1906 for putting in hand in that

closure 2.
